Encrypted mailboxes
The expectation of privacy should be low for any email account at any provider. Likely, nobody is snooping. After all, you’re not that important. But if someone really wanted to read your email, it wouldn’t be that difficult.
This is an ordinary message sitting on mailblob’s disk:
mailblob now supports encryption with a password only you know. Mail is locked the moment it’s delivered, and only that password opens it. This is a message in one of those mailboxes, opened the same way:
I don’t recommend it for most people. If you forget your password, your mail is gone, and nobody can reset it, me included. The sender, subject and date still sit in the search index, and mail can be read by the spam filter on its way in. It protects what’s stored on disk and in backups, and that’s it.
